
Dr. Susan Johnson has been a pioneer in the field of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Portland area since the early 1990s. She is proud to be one of the first gynecologists in Oregon to be certified in robotic surgery when it was initially approved for use in gynecology in 2005. Dr. Johnson is an original faculty member of Legacy Hospital System’s Minimally Invasive Surgery Program which educates and trains physicians both locally and nationwide in advanced endoscopic surgery in gynecologic and general surgery. She has served on the institutional review board and on advisory and medical committees for both Legacy Good Samaritan and Emanuel Hospitals. She is a former member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee to the Medically Underserved, and a past Clinical Associate Professor in OB/GYN at OHSU. Dr. Johnson is currently a faculty member of the Legacy Health System’s MIS Fellowship in Gynecology.
Dr. Johnson is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received a B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at Mercy Medical Center in Chicago, a Loyola University affiliate. Dr. Johnson is an active member of the AAGL, the major gynecologic organization promoting safe and effective minimally invasive surgery worldwide.
